Three Reasons to Choose an In-Home Photography Session

Melissa and Shayna knew they wanted their couples photography session in Atlanta, GA to be personal. They’ve spent the last few months making their home perfect, and they realized that this perfectly captures their relationship. So to their apartment I went, ready to capture their plants, their cat, and their love. Here’s three reasons why that was the perfect choice.

Comfort

At the end of the day, you’ve probably curated your home with your comfort in mind. You’ve created a space where you can relax, kick your feet up, and feel like yourself. When planning for a couples photography session, you want a location that helps you do just that.

So being at home is perfect. It’s a space you’re naturally comfortable in, so it will help you feel more at ease in front of the camera. Because getting photos done is a vulnerable process, and putting you in some location you’ve never been to does nothing to help with that.

Personalization

I can bring you to a non-descript field where every other photographer is taking photos in perfect light, but does that really feel like you? Does that really show off your relationship and this moment in your life together?

Photos aren’t just there to be aesthetically pleasing. A couples photography session should be a chance for you to revisit a time in your life, take you back to that first apartment and the housewarming plant you bought together. Take you back to playing the Taylor Swift album on that record player and making paperplane cocktails in your kitchen.

Your home is where these memories are happening, so it’s the perfect place to document this.

Weather

Then, of course, there’s the practical side of things. Weather. Atlanta, GA is known for some wild weather – hail storms coming out of nowhere, sudden freezing days, scorching hot heat. It’s not an easy place to plan photography, and in-home sessions get rid of all those factors. We’ll be in your home, where the temperature is controlled and the lighting is stagnant. We can shoot mid-day, rather than waiting for golden hour. We can shoot in the rain, in the hail, in the sun. If you want predictability, in-home sessions are the perfect way to get it.

Are you a fan of the indoor vibe but not your home? No worries, here are 11 indoor photography locations that we could use instead!
