As a photographer, there are few moments as special as capturing the surprise of a well-planned proposal. Recently, I had the honor of photographing an engagement at the Atlanta Braves baseball stadium, and it was truly a night to remember.
Deliah is a long-time Braves fan, with memories of games while growing up at Turner Field. As Mandee described it, over half of Deliah’s clothes sported that distinct Braves A. So obviously, there was nowhere better to start the rest of their lives together than outside the stadium before the bat cracked kicking off opening weekend.
After the day spent avoiding both the rain, it was finally time. I hid as they walked around the stadium toward commemorative bricks. Mandee had picked out one of these bricks, engraving it months prior with the words “Deliah, will you marry me? xoxo Mandee”. As Mandee pointed out the brick, Deliah turned to their partner in shock, and that’s when Mandee got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. It was a beautiful moment, and I was so grateful to be there to capture it all on camera.
As the newly engaged couple hugged and shared their excitement, we took some photos around the stadium capturing the joy and love. They went on to enjoy the night in the way Deliah loves the most – watching the Braves.
